Medical-grade TPE
Medical-grade TPE filament is a flexible thermoplastic elastomer made from high-quality pellets certified ISO 10993-5 for skin contact.
With a Shore hardness of 88A, it offers excellent elasticity and softness, making it ideal for applications requiring direct contact with the human body. Its flexibility helps reduce friction and prevents skin irritation, while ensuring durability and comfort.

Zoom on medical TPE
Its technical characteristics
- Material: TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer)
- Color: White
- Finish: Flexible
- Diameter: 1.75 mm
- Spool Weight: 500 g
- Origin: Made in France
- Certification: ISO 10993-5 (skin contact)
- Hardness: 88A Shore
Its printing properties
To achieve optimal print quality with this flexible material, the following parameters are recommended:
- Extrusion Temperature: 220 – 240 °C
- Bed Temperature: 40 – 60 °C
- Print Speed: 10 – 40 mm/s
Due to its flexibility, TPE requires controlled extrusion and slower speeds. A direct drive extruder is strongly recommended for improved performance and precision.
Its mechanical and thermal properties
- High flexibility and elasticity
- Excellent impact resistance
- Good vibration absorption
- Glass transition temperature below room temperature
- Suitable for prolonged skin contact applications
Its areas of application
Medical-grade TPE filament is particularly suitable for the following healthcare applications:
- Orthopedic devices
- Patient-contact interfaces
- Flexible surgical models
- Ergonomic grips and handles
- Soft components combined with rigid parts (orthoses and prosthetics)
Its white color and soft texture make it particularly well-suited for patient interfaces and devices that require comfort and flexibility.
Its advantages and precautions
Advantages
- ISO 10993-5 certified for skin contact
- Highly flexible and comfortable
- Strong impact resistance
- Reduces risk of skin irritation
- Ideal for parts requiring deformation and elastic recovery
Precautions
- Not implantable: external use only
- More complex to print than rigid materials
- Moisture-sensitive: store in a dry environment
- Requires fine-tuned settings to prevent stringing
