Medical PCL-HA

The CAPROLACTISSE HA [PCL 30% HA] medical-grade filament is a white, rigid, semi-crystalline thermoplastic composed of 70% Polycaprolactone (PCL) and 30% Hydroxyapatite (HA) (by weight fraction). Implantable and bioresorbable, it degrades slowly after implantation, with resorption occurring over more than 24 months. The combination of PCL, known for its mechanical stability and progressive resorption, and hydroxyapatite, the natural mineral component of bone, enhances osteoconductivity and osseointegration. This filament is particularly suited for bone reconstruction applications and tissue engineering.

Its printing Properties

To ensure reliable prints suitable for medical applications, the following parameters are recommended:

  • Extrusion temperature: 200 °C
  • Bed temperature: 40 – 45 °C
  • Printing speed: 20 – 60 mm/s

PCL-HA requires strict storage conditions. Before opening, allow the spool to return to room temperature for 4 to 6 hours to prevent condensation. If necessary, it can be placed in a ventilated oven (maximum 40 °C).
